In June 2017, Delaware North completed a 10-month, $6.3 million eco-friendly redesign and reconstruction of Grant Grove Restaurant in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. The new 8,000-square-foot restaurant accommodates about 225 diners at once in indoor and outdoor seating areas that include an outdoor deck and courtyard. It replaces the original restaurant, which was built in the 1970s with a seating capacity of only 74. Check out this slideshow of the restaurant's construction!
Sequoia National Park is a truly awe-inspiring place, but it's not easy to express what makes this park so special without actually seeing it in person. Watch this clip and see for yourself!
One of the lesser known facts about Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks is that they are home to over 200 caves! The two parks protect half the caves more than a mile long in California, the longest cave in the state, and numerous others containing rare minerals, unique animals, and areas of scientific research. Previously unknown caves and animal species are still being discovered today! Watch the video below for a glimpse of the fascinating documentary, Caves of Sequoia.
One of Sequoia's most popular attractions is the abundance of wild life, and no animal sighting is more highly prized than catching a view of our black bears. In Sequoia, all of our bears are black bears, even though they can range in color from black to brown to blonde! Whether you've seen our resident bears in person or would rather see them in action from the comfort of your own home, you can see them here. The video below is geared toward kids, but is fun and educational for all ages.
