Sequoia and Kings Canyon policies

Cancellation policy

All reservations may be changed or canceled at no charge* by 4 p.m. PDT two days before your scheduled arrival date. Please note that changes to the reservation will be subject to availability and any rate differences.

Must be age 18+ to make a reservation and check in.

​*Excludes reservations booked under the Advance Purchase / Book Early and Save rate, which are nonrefundable.

John Muir Lodge, Cedar Grove Lodge, and Grant Grove Cabins

All Kings Canyon reservations require a credit card guarantee by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Diners Club, or American Express. Your credit card will be billed for the first night’s room and tax for each room booked. If the credit card charge is not approved, your reservation will be canceled.

You may book up to nine guest rooms online under the same name and address. After nine rooms have been reserved, any additional rooms booked under that same name and address will be automatically canceled. To reserve 10 guestrooms or more, please call the Group Sales department at (877) 436-9617.

Reservations booked through the call center must be changed or canceled through the call center. Our cancellation policy is strictly enforced with no exceptions.

Special requests are noted and maintained in the reservation system, but specific room numbers or locations cannot be guaranteed. Rates are subject to change with National Park Service approval and are subject to applicable state and county taxes that may change without notice.

Your accommodations are available after 4 p.m. Check-out time is 11 a.m. Reservations may be booked up to 366 days (one year and one day) in advance. Rates are based on single or double occupancy. Children age 17 and under do not affect the rate, but the rate will increase by $12 (not including package components) per additional adult age 18 and older in the room.

The National Park Service has designated all restaurants, bars, and public restrooms as nonsmoking areas. The park entrance fee is not covered in room rates. Please see nps.gov for current entrance fees.

A daily $0.75 California tourism fee will be charged during your stay. The fee is reflected in the total amount due but is not included in your deposit and will be charged upon arrival. Wuksachi Lodge, John Muir Lodge, and Grant Grove Cabins are dog-friendly. Please see below for our pet policies:

Wuksachi Lodge pet policy

While pets are not permitted on any trails at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, they’re allowed on more than 60 miles of hiking trails in Sequoia National Forest! 

We look forward to having you and your pet stay with us. To ensure the comfort and safety of our guests, the following Pet Policy applies to your pet’s stay. Download a copy of our pet policy (PDF – requires Adobe® Reader®).

1. Prior Approval Required:
a. We have a limited number of pet-friendly rooms. Pets must be declared upon check-in. Service animals accompanying people with disabilities are always welcomed at Wuksachi Lodge. Pet owners must abide by the guidelines in the Pet Policy or they will be asked to remove their pet form the lodging area.

2. Pet Charge:
a. There is a nonrefundable pet fee of $25 per pet, per day. This fee is for necessary deep cleaning of the room upon departure. Service animals registered at the front desk are not required to pay the pet fee.

3. Acceptable Pets:
a. Two well-mannered pets per room are permitted.
b. Pet noise must be kept to a minimum. Barking dogs can disturb other guests, and are not allowed by the hotel.

4. Pets Left in Rooms and/or Unattended:
a. Pets may not be left unattended in guest rooms, crated or otherwise while visiting the park
b. Pets in vehicles: Pets are not allowed to be left unattended in vehicles.

5. Pets in Public Areas:
a. Pets must be leashed, caged or firmly held when they are outside the guestrooms, including during their walks on outdoor grounds. Please clean up after your pet and dispose of pet waste in the receptacle provided. (Pets are not allowed on furniture in guestrooms or common areas.

6. Housekeeping:
a. For the safety and comfort of your pet and our staff, Housekeeping will not service your room with your pet inside.

7. Pet Health/Cleanliness:
a. Your pets must be clean, vaccinated, and flea/tick treated prior to your arrival. Please also ensure that your pet wears a name tag with his/her current rabies vaccination tag.

8. Injuries to Others/Damage to Guest Rooms and Common Areas:
a. You will be solely responsible for any and all injury your pet inflicts on other guests, pets or our staff, and any damages your pet causes to the guestrooms or common areas of the hotel. Your account will be charged for any repair or replacement cost for any property damage caused by your pet.

John Muir Lodge and Grant Grove Cabins pet policy

We welcome all well-mannered dogs. No other types of pets are allowed. Service animals accompanying people with disabilities are always welcomed at John Muir Lodge and Grant Grove Cabins. For a definition of a service animal, please go to www.ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm. Service animals need to be registered at the front desk, Two well-manner pets per room are permitted. Dogs weighing 50 pounds and over may be allowed at our discretion and you must obtain approval at the time you make your reservation.

  • Pets may not be left unattended in guest rooms.
  • We reserve the right to require immediate removal of any pet that displays dangerous and unacceptable behavior, including but not limited to biting, excessive noise (such as barking), evidence of disease, or urination/defecation in public areas. (Additional fees will apply for evidence of excessive noise, such as barking and urination/defecation.)

3. Declaration at Check-In:
When registering at the front desk, your pet must be declared and you must sign a copy of this policy as acknowledgement and agreement to all terms and conditions contained in this policy.

4. Noise must be kept to a minimum:
Barking dogs can disturb other guests. If your pet is left unattended and making noise, the Manager on Duty will remove your pet from the room and you will be subject to a fee.

5. Pet-Friendly Areas:
Please do not have your pet accompany you to meals; health regulations do not allow them in food service areas. Registered service animals are an exception.

6. Pet Control/Containment in Public Areas:
Pets must be leashed, caged or firmly held when they are outside the guestrooms, including during their walks on outdoor grounds. Please clean up after your pet and dispose of pet waste in the receptacle provided. [Pets are not allowed on furniture in guestrooms or common areas].

In addition to the above policies we also make the following suggestions:

  1. Have your pet vaccinated, washed and apply flea medication prior to your arrival.
  2. Ensure that your pet wears a name tag and a current rabies vaccination tag.

You agree to release, defend and indemnify the Wuksachi Lodge, John Muir Lodge, and/or Grant Grove Cabins from any and all claims and/or damages related to your pet or pet’s stay at the hotel, including any claims by third parties. You expressly waive and relinquish the benefits of California Civil Code Section 1542, which provides: “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor.”
