General Grant Tree - Kings Canyon National Park

General Grant Tree

In a small, detached portion of Kings Canyon National Park sits Grant Grove. Home to the 3,000-year-old General Grant, the second-largest sequoia tree in the world, it is a place preserved for nature lovers the world over.

The General Grant tree, which sits at the heart of Grant Grove, was nicknamed the “Nation's Christmas Tree” by President Calvin Coolidge, and remains one of the most popular attractions in Kings Canyon National Park. To honor its moniker, the National Park Service holds annual Christmas services the base of the General Grant, which provide visitors and park staff with fantastic photo opportunities and the chance to enjoy the majestic tree dressed up for the season.

Testimonials

“My Mother and I stayed two nights at the Wuksachi Lodge in the Silliman building recently.  The views and surrounding environment were spectacular.  The cuisine at the Lodge was wonderfully tasty and well prepared.  Lola, our server both days, was very friendly and a great server.  The room was nice and our view of the forest was second to none.  We really enjoyed our stay.  Would recommend it to anyone.”
